How Source Packs work

The Wide Narrow Source Library gives access to ready-to-use Source Packs and advanced filtering possibilities. The Source Packs contain categorized information in various sectors, topics, and perspectives from a selection of open sources. All Source Packs include both sector and topic-specific sources and more general sources.

Select Source Packs

The default setting is that all Source Packs provide information to your Wide Narrow Source Library feed.

Click “Uncheck all selected” to make your own selections of Sector, Topic, and Perspective Source Packs.

Recommendations when selecting Source Packs

We recommend that you choose several Sector, Topic, and Perspective Source Packs, rather than a few.

Your selected Source Packs are the information base that you then filter (on the "Preview and add filter" page) to get a well-defined feed that contains relevant information on the subject you want to follow. Start by thinking broadly and selecting all sectors, topics, and perspectives that may be relevant in terms of information for the subject.

A good question is: Where can there be relevant information concerning the area I want to monitor?

Select Sector Source Packs

Start from the industry or sector you operate in and then add other industries and sectors that have contact points with your business or sector and may therefore be relevant.

Think Stakeholder model converted to information. Which stakeholders are there in my sector, related sectors, and topics?

Type a sector or industry in the search field or browse the sectors under the Sector heading. Tick the sectors you want to include.

Select Topic Source Packs

If you want to monitor a topic, select one or more Topic Source Packs that together define the area you want to monitor.

Type a topic in the search field or browse the topics under the Topic heading. Tick the topics you want to include.

Then select Sector Source Packs if you want to connect your topic to a specific industry or sector. Optionally, select Perspective Source Packs to further define the information perspective of your feed.

Select Perspective Source Packs

The Perspective Source Packs are developed by Wide Narrow Information Specialists to make your searches even more relevant.

Select one or more Perspective Source Packs to particularly include information related to the area you want to monitor filtered on different perspectives.

Examples:

• Select Trends to monitor trends in your sector or topic.
• Select Innovation to monitor innovation and new technology within your sector or topic.
• Choose Science to monitor research and researchers in your sector or topic.
• Choose Earth to monitor environmental, sustainability, and circularity issues within your sector or topic.
• Choose Strategy to monitor curated information from large global consulting firms and significant university publications.
• Select Business to monitor company news, such as market changes and M&A.
