Users can contribute to an InfoDesk portal by using the Contribute button or sending an email to an InfoDesk portal. This is how to use the Contribute button.
Using the Simple Contribute form
You can use the Simple Contribute form to extract content from a link or to easily drag and drop files and images.
- Log in to your InfoDesk portal.
- Click the Contribute button in the top menu.
- Enter a link or drag and drop a file or image in the drop field.
- Click Continue to automatically extract content from the link source.
- In the Contribute window, Edit the headline, description, and image.
- Contribute to: Select Search to show the contribution in Search OR select an inbox in the dropdown to send the contribution to an Inbox. Note that an inbox must have the "Contributable" setting to appear in the drop-down list.
- Categorize the Contribution with the taxonomy categories.
- Click Save.
Using the Advanced Contribute form
Use the Advanced Contribute form to create new content or add content from several sources.
- Log in to your InfoDesk portal.
- Click the Contribute button in the top menu and then the Continue button. A contribution form opens.
- Enter a headline and add a description.
- Upload an image or click Add Image to upload an image from the free image service.
- Add any link, video link, or file.
- Contribute to: Select Search to show the contribution in Search OR select an inbox in the dropdown to send the contribution to an Inbox. Note that an inbox must have the "Contributable" setting to appear in the drop-down list.
- Categorize the Contribution with the taxonomy categories.
- Click Save.
Depending on the portal settings, Contributions will be displayed either on the Dashboard and Search or in a contributable Inbox. If the portal setting allows it, users can choose which inbox they want to send their contributions to.
Selecting the Search option means that your contribution will appear on the post list in the Search module and also on the Dashboard post lists if it includes qualified posts or matching tags from a categorized contribution.
User Access: The Contribute feature is available for all users.
