Summarize text from PDF files

The inbuilt AI Copilot automatically summarizes text in uploaded PDF documents into brief abstracts. Click "Summarize pdf" to run the tool.

The PDF summary tool includes a text parser to get relevant text to summarize from the PDF file. Currently, the text parser only works with PDF files, not Word, Excel, or ppt.

 

How to summarize a PDF file in Posts

1. Click the "Edit post" button (pen) to open the post edit form.
2. Click “Summarize pdf” on the attached file to run the AI Copilot.
3. If you want to use the AI-generated summary, click "Add to abstract" to add the summary to the post abstract field. The PDF summary will be displayed above the existing text at the top of the abstract field.
4. Make any changes to the abstract and click "Save".

How to upload and summarize a PDF file in the Contribute form

1. Click the Contribute button and then "Continue" to open the Contribute form.
2. Click "Add file" to upload one or several PDF files.
3. When uploaded: Click “Summarize pdf” on the attached file to run the AI Copilot.
4. If you want to use the AI-generated summary, click "Add to abstract" to add the summary to the post abstract field. The PDF summary will be displayed above the existing text at the top of the abstract field.
5. Enter a headline and make any changes to the AI-generated summary.
6. Choose where to publish the Contribution by selecting Search or any inbox under "Contribute to".
7. Click "Save" to publish your Contribution.

User access: All users can use the Contribute feature. Only Superusers can edit posts.
